Fort Lee Public Schools commends these groups and individuals for their superior achievement:
  • Congratulations to the FLHS Marching Bridgemen on their first place finish at the Lyman Hall Marching Band competition in Wallingford CT. The Bridgemen finished first among the nine bands in their division, taking awards for best music, best percussion and best overall effect.
  • This October students from all four elementary schools and the Lewis F. Cole Middle will receive a special certificate of recognition for earning a perfect score on the Mathematics, English Language Arts or Science portion of the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJASK), as follows: Spring 2014 Perfect 300's

  • The Fort Lee School District’s Academy of Finance Career Day Program was awarded the New Jersey School Boards Association’s 28th Annual School Leader Award. [More Information] [Award Letter]
  • Soccer Record Broken - This fall senior Caitlin McKenna broke Fort Lee Girl's Soccer single season goal record with 29 goals.  Caitlin also broke the school record for goals scored in a single game with 6. 
  • Bernadette Darcy, an 11th grade high school student won first place in the high school division of the Bergen County Teacher Recognition Poetry Contest.  Bernadette's poem, titled "6th Period" reflected the valuable impact education has on a student.  It will be published in the Bergen County Teacher Recognition Program which is distributed at the reception honoring all of the County Teachers of the Year.  Honorable mention also goes to Grace Tan, a 7th grade student and Jun Ha Oh, a School 3 5th grade student whose poems were selected by our district selection committee to represent Fort Lee at the County competition.
  • Congradulations to Ms. Reina Sandouk and the FLHS Winter Color Guard on their first place finish at the USBands National Championships held in Toms River, NJ. The guard competed in the Scholastic Novice division.  This was Fort Lee High School's first-ever foray into winter guard competition.
  • 2013-2014 - Fort Lee High School Boys bowling wins league title.
  • On February 15, 2014, Head Boy's Basketball Coach John Ziemba won his 300th game at Fort Lee High School.
  • On January 31, 2014, the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, sponsors of the oldest and most prestigious writing competition in the nation, recognized eight FLHS students for their creativity, technical skill and personal voice and vision. [More Information]
  • On January 28, 2014, 5th Grader students from School No. 2 were honored at the world-renowned Avery Fisher Hall above the NY Pilharmonic Orchestra [More Information]

  • The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, sponsor of the oldest and most prestigious writing competition in the country, awarded a Silver Key to junior Joy Chen in the category of "short fiction" for her story "South of Peking" and an Honorable Mention to senior Tiffany Zhu for her collection of poems.
  • Kudos to the following members of the Lewis F. Cole Middle School Math Team who earned fifth place honors at the Math Counts Bergen-Hudson Regional Competition on Saturday, February 2, 2013 under the direction of Ms. Sumedha Kumar, coach and facilitator of the program. [More Information]
  • FLHS Teacher Denise Kuehner is among four in the state, and 244 nationwide, to be named New Science Teacher Academy fellows by the National Science Teachers Association. [More Information]

  • Congratulations to our Girls Tennis Team who were crowned 2010 Champions of the “American Division”, in the BIG North Conference with a perfect 8-0 record in our Division and an 11-4 overall record.
  • Congratulations to Sheri Steckler, Fort Lee Head Girls Tennis Coach, who was voted “2010 Girls Tennis Coach of the Year”, by the Big North Conference!

  • The Fort Lee High school band brought home first place honors in division VI A by winning the Bergen County Invitational Championships.
  • 2009-2010, the Lewis F. Cole Middle School Math Team took 1st place in the Bergen County "Math Counts" Competition and placed 3rd overall in the state.
  • In 2009, a Fort Lee High School student was named as a semifinalist in the Siemens Math, Science and Technology competition for her research done at Columbia University in neural sciences.
  • 2009-2010, five Fort Lee High School students won "Gold Keys" in the regional Scholastic Writing Competition automatically placing them in the national competition.  Scholastic is the oldest and most prestigious writing competition in the country.
  • Two Fort Lee High School students were selected as Intel Science Talent Search 2010 Semifinalists.  Research was done at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and at Fort Lee High School.  The Intel Science Talent Search is America's most prestigious pre-college science competition.
  • A violinist at Fort Lee High School received a $10,000 young artist scholarship award, and her music was recently featured on National Public Radio's program "From The Top".
