Hello Fort Lee Families,

I hope that you are all enjoying your spring break. The last thing that I want to do is interrupt this time for you. However, some important information came out today that I need to share with you. This afternoon, Governor Murphy announced that schools will remain closed through at least Friday, May 15. This will continue to help to flatten the curve and slow the transmission of coronavirus. This decision was made in  consultation with the New Jersey Department of Health and the Department of Education.

I understand that this is a challenging situation for everyone in our community.  I know I speak for all of the Fort Lee Public Schools staff when I say that this is equally as difficult for us. Your teachers, Principals, para-professionals and everyone else, all miss having our classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds filled with students who are learning and growing every day. We will continue to do the best we can to provide the online instruction experience during this unprecedented time. We all realize that it is nothing close to the experiences that occur in a school on a daily basis.

As more information becomes available, I will notify you.

Maintain your practice of social distancing. It is still working, but we are not there yet.

Enjoy the remainder of your break.

Stay home and stay safe.

We will get through this,  TOGETHER.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Rota

Superintendent of Schools
