Change in Program 2.9.21

February 9,  2021

Dear Fort Lee Families,

I hope that you are staying safe, warm and dry during the recent winter weather. The district custodial and maintenance staff has done a great job of keeping our sidewalks and parking lots clear. Unfortunately, I think the winter is far from over.

As the school year progressed, the district has monitored the situation closely to determine how best to service our students. At this time the district is planning to make some changes which will result in an increase of in person instruction for the students. If you have chosen to participate in the full remote instruction model, these changes will not impact your child.

Beginning on Wednesday, February 17, the district elementary schools (grades prek-4) and the Lewis Cole Intermediate School (grades 5-6) will no longer have Wednesdays as a day of full remote instruction for all students. Wednesdays will be included in the A/B cohort schedule. You will receive specific details from your building Principal regarding the schedule.

Lewis F. Cole Middle School and Fort Lee High School will combine the hybrid students into two cohorts (A or B) and eliminate the C cohort group beginning on Thursday, February 18. Wednesday, February 17 will remain as full remote instruction for Lewis F. Cole Middle School and Fort Lee High School students. Beginning on Wednesday, February 24, Lewis Cole Middle School and Fort Lee High School will no longer have Wednesdays as a day of full remote instruction for all students. Wednesdays will be included in the A/B cohort schedule. You will receive specific details from your building Principal regarding the schedule.

I am hopeful that taking these actions will be a successful step in the process of the district’s return to our in-person instruction.

REMINDER: Please be aware that if there is an increase in the number of positive Covid-19 cases or severe winter weather, the district may switch to full remote instruction for all students with limited notice.

The district will continue to monitor the ongoing health situation with our students and staff to determine how to proceed in the future.  As always, the health and well-being of our students and staff is our most important priority.

The district schools will be closed Friday, February 12, Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16.  Please take some time to “unplug” and enjoy the brief break from school.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Rota

Superintendent of Schools
